The Republican party has been the party of power and greed for decades.
Under Trump, the quest for power and money has evolved to the point that the Republicans are willing to "burn it all down". The constitution, justice system, morals, ethics, and values be damned. The truth is a hinderance to their mission. And, the Republican Congress is absent due to their fealty to Trump.
The apparent Republican motto:
"I got mine, screw you".
